Synergy for Technological Sovereignty: Dr. Elizabeth Mar Juárez Visits the Orma Solutions Plant

On March 3, the Director General of the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP), Dr. Elizabeth Mar Juárez, led a strategic technical visit to the facilities of Orma Solutions in Paraíso, Tabasco.

During this important visit, Dr. Mar Juárez was accompanied by senior staff and specialists from the IMP’s Technology Commercialization Directorate and the Exploration and Production Directorate, with the objective of identifying collaboration opportunities that integrate scientific research with Mexico’s industrial capabilities.

A Tour of Innovation and National Capacity

The technical delegation carried out a detailed inspection of key areas of the plant, highlighting fundamental elements for operational efficiency:

  • Fluids and Milling Infrastructure: Evaluation of production lines for oil-based fluids, water-based fluids, and clear brines. The operation of the barite milling plant and the logistics for supplying drilling fluids were also reviewed—essential elements for maintaining well stability.

  • High-Specialization Equipment: Under the expert supervision of the Exploration and Production Directorate, the team assessed Top-Drive systems and solids control technologies, both critical tools for optimizing field productivity.

  • On-Site Logistics: Inspection of 80 m³ frac tanks designed for the safe handling and storage of fluids and diesel under demanding field conditions.

  • Sustainability and Environmental Management: Review of ecological surface services aligned with the vision of a responsible energy industry promoted by the IMP.

  • Commercial Strategy: The Technology Commercialization Directorate evaluated Orma Solutions’ capabilities as a potential partner for scaling technological solutions developed by the Institute to the national market.

Toward a Stronger Energy Ecosystem

Dr. Elizabeth Mar Juárez emphasized that collaboration between the IMP’s scientific talent and national companies with strong industrial infrastructure is a key driver for achieving true technological sovereignty.

“Collaboration between our technical directorates and the national industry allows us to transform knowledge into tangible solutions for the current challenges of exploration and production in Mexico.”

The Institute extends its appreciation to the team at Orma Solutions for their hospitality and for sharing their technical vision, strengthening the partnerships that drive the development of Mexican engineering and technology.
