Petrophysics and PVT Analysis

Unique in its kind in the country, it specialises in determining the volumetric behaviour of hydrocarbons (PVT analysis), as well as characterising rock-fluid systems (petrophysics), and is geared towards assessing the storage and production capacity of reservoirs.

Our more than 30 years of experience have enabled us to generate a useful national patent for the removal and control of formation damage. We assist in the characterisation of fluids produced from reservoirs in Pemex's various exploration and production assets.

We generate and evaluate strategies and alternatives for reservoir exploitation, with the aim of providing technical support for operational plans to optimise exploitation and increase reserves and production. We comply with standard 17025. All our equipment is calibrated and maintained as required.

Laboratory capabilities

  • Six PVT cells, capacity of 500 cm3 and a maximum working pressure of 550 kg/cm2.

  • Four gas chromatographs

  • Analysis of hydrocarbon fluids from C1 to C11+, and non-hydrocarbon compounds such as N2, CO2 and H2S. 

  • One Saybolt viscometer for maximum working conditions of 50 °C.

  • SEMI-ROBOT cryogenic distiller, distils reservoir fluids up to the C7+ fraction. 

  • MINI-CAL high temperature distiller.

  • Distils hydrocarbon compounds up to a C12+ fraction. 

  • Two cryoscopes, determine molecular weights of liquid hydrocarbon fractions, in a range from 80 to 500 umas.
