Refining, Petrochemicals, and Transition Energies: IMP Strengthens Its Technological Leadership at LARPET 2025
The Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP) actively participated in the Latin American Refining, Petrochemicals, and Transition Energies Forum (LARPET 2025), consolidating its role as a strategic player in regional integration and in advancing an energy transition grounded in sovereignty and equity.
At its institutional booth, IMP showcased technological solutions aligned with innovation, sustainability, and the application of scientific development to the energy industry. Its Director General highlighted the development of generative artificial intelligence tools, backed by 60 years of experience, designed to deliver preventive and optimized solutions to refining and petrochemical challenges.
The Institute also presented new technological pathways, including biomass- and waste-based refineries, CO₂ capture, green hydrogen, water management, synthetic fuels, and emissions reduction across the entire value chain. It further emphasized its participation in strategic projects such as the Refinería Olmeca and the development of the Planta de Catalizadores, the first facility in Mexico dedicated to producing inputs for Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel.
Through the participation of its senior officials in technical panels and specialized conferences, IMP reaffirmed its leadership in research, engineering, and technological development, strengthening its commitment to energy sovereignty and to building a cleaner, more efficient, and competitive industry for Mexico and the region.
