
IMP and UTTEC Sign General Collaboration Agreement to Strengthen Talent Development and Technological Innovation
The Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP) and the Universidad Tecnológica de Tecámac (UTTEC) signed a General Collaboration Agreement aimed at promoting joint research, technological development, and innovation projects, as well as strengthening the training of specialized talent for Mexico’s energy sector.
On behalf of the Director General of IMP, the Acting Head of the Research Division highlighted that this alliance expands the Institute’s strategic academic partnership network, consolidating collaboration with higher education institutions committed to the country’s scientific and technological development.
The agreement establishes the following priority areas:

Development of applied research and innovation projects.

Training of highly specialized human resources.

Promotion of STEM careers (engineering, mathematics, and sciences).

Encouragement of women’s participation in scientific and technological fields.
A key component of the agreement will be the incorporation of students into social service programs, professional internships, and strategic projects, strengthening early engagement with the energy sector and aligning academic training with the current and future needs of the industry.
The agreement also includes joint activities in research, specialized training, technical residencies, and advisory services, as well as the possibility of establishing specific agreements to address strategic projects related to the energy transition and the strengthening of national technological capabilities.
With this signing, IMP reinforces its role as a benchmark institution in academic collaboration, applied knowledge generation, and talent development to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of Mexico’s energy sector.
